CHS Season Tickets Now On Sale

The Charlestown HS Athletic Department has announced All-Sport Season Passes (season tickets) are now on-sale daily (Monday-Friday) between 8:00 am and 3:30 pm in the Student Services Center on campus.  Adult All-Sport passes are $70.00 each, Senior Citizen (55 and over) passes are $50.00 each, and Student passes (K-12) are $30.00 each.  Ten event punch-passes will also once again be available for a cost of $35.00.  Punch-passes can be used for any regular season home sporting event, can be rolled over to the next school year, and can be used by anyone.  For more information, call the CHS Athletic Department at 812-256-3328 or email Athletic Director Chad Gilbert at cgilbert@gcs.k12.in.us.

Lady Pirate Basketball Conditioning Begins Monday

The Charlestown High School Girls Basketball team will begin pre-season conditioning starting Monday August 10th, 2015.  The Conditioning sessions will run every Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 3:30 pm until 5:15 pm each day, until Fall Break.  It is highly encouraged and recommended that all potential Lady Pirate Basketball players that are not involved in a Fall Sports attend these sessions.  For more information, contact Lady Pirate Head Coach Michael Prichard at mprichard@gcs.k12.in.us.

3rd Annual Back to School Student Athlete Meeting THURSDAY

Charlestown High School Athletic Director Chad Gilbert would like to announce this year’s Back to School Student Athlete Meeting to be held on Thursday, August 6th, at 6:30 in the CHS Sports Arena.

The Back to School Student Athlete Meeting is for all parents and their student athletes who plan on participating in a CHS sport during this 2015-16 school year.

Coach Gilbert will address the crowd about the upcoming year at 6:30 pm; afterward, each Fall Sport will split up to an area for that sport’s specific parent meeting.

Winter and Spring Sport Coaches will be in attendance as well; and will use the opportunity to get a head start on preparing parents and student athletes on their upcoming seasons.

Pirate Pride executive officers will also be present to update parents and student athletes on booster club news and information.

The CHS Athletic Staff looks forward to seeing All CHS Student Athletes and their Parents at the third annual Back to School Student Athlete Meeting, Thursday, August 6th in the CHS Sports Arena.

BlueWhiteScrimmageTag2015finalThe Annual Pirate Football Blue-White Scrimmage will be held next Friday, August 7th on Dutch Reis Field…..with a new twist!  A “Total Team REVIEW” Pirate Football Friday Night Lights Opener.  Watch ALL PIRATE FOOTBALL TEAMS Scrimmage, from Charlestown Little Pirate Football, to Charlestown Middle School Pirate Football, and of course…Charlestown High School Pirate Football!!!! Admission is $2.00 with a new start time of 6:00 pm at Charlestown High School.  Pirate Football will scrimmage at Floyd Central the following Friday (Aug. 14th); then host Madison for the regular season opener on Friday, August 21st at 7:00 pm.  #NoRegrets #PirateNation

Lady Pirate Basketball Announces Skills Academy

The Charlestown Lady Pirate Girls Basketball Program is excited to announce a program called the Charlestown Basketball Skills Academy (CBSA). This is a FREE fundamental basketball program open to girls entering 3rd-6th Grades.

The skill academy sessions will be held every Saturday from (8:30 AM to 10:00 AM) and every Tuesday from (6:00 PM to 730 PM); beginning on August 15th and ending September 26th, 2015.

This skills academy will be conducted by the Lady Pirate Girls Basketball Coaches in Charlestown along with several former players.  For more information, contact Head Coach Michael Prichard at mprichard@gcs.k12.in.us.

Willinger Continuing College Ball at WKU

WillingerTylerFormer Charlestown Pirate Baseball player Tyler Willinger will continue his baseball career at Western Kentucky University this fall as a preferred walk on with the Hilltoppers.

Tyler just finished his sophomore season at Calhoun Community College in Decatur, Alabama. Calhoun finished the season 15-25, but Tyler posted great numbers this year. In 35 games played, he batted .340 with a .432 on base percentage. He also had 5 doubles, 18 walks and only struck out 9 times in 128 plate appearances. As in high school, Tyler continued to shine defensively with 63 putouts, 3 assists and no errors on the season.

“I am very proud of Tyler and wish him all the best as he continues his next chapter in life at WKU. I’m sure he will be very successful”, commented Pirate Head Coach Ricky Romans.
