Lady Pirates Cruise to 5-0 Shut Out Victory Over Madison

The Charlestown Lady Pirate Softball team improved to 4-2 on the season as they had little problem defeating the team visiting from Madison High School.  The Lady Pirates got their five runs courtesy of six hits, Mackenzie Smith, Leah Sherrill (2), Carly Price (2), and Lexi Logsdon.  Carly Price got the shut out win from the circle (2-1), pitching a complete game in 6 1/2 innings.  Madison (1-6) twice loaded the bases; however the Lady Pirate defense caused them to strand all their runners off four hits.  Leah Sherrill finished the game 2 for 3 at the plate, including a double; Carly Price also finished 2 for 3 and hit a RBI triple in the bottom of the third.  Lexi Logsdon finished 1 for 3 at the plate; however led off in the third with a big triple that begun a two run inning for the Lady Pirates.  Charlestown will next travel to New Albany on Monday for a non-conference clash with the Lady Bulldogs, a game that will be broadcasted live by Pirate Pride Sports Broadcasting beginning at 4:45 pm on www.CPPSB.com.
