Athletic Director
Big Blue Nation,
It is with great excitement and pride I accept the position as athletic director at my alma mater, Charlestown High School. Many things have changed for the better with CHS and me since I graduated 22 years ago.
With the facilities, coaches, administration and support we have in place, I look forward to hitting the ground running and continue to take our programs to new heights. It will be a challenge to follow the likes of Kim Carroll, David Null, Tony Hall and Charlie Reinbold but with the help of our parents, coaches, and administrators along with the continued support of our community the sky is the limit for Charlestown High School!!!
My vision is to reach goals developed through a two, five, and ten-year plan which will make CHS the premier 3A school in the state of Indiana. This vision will allow our students, parents, and community to be proud to be a Charlestown Pirate. We want to compete for our first Mid-Southern Conference All-Sport trophy since 1978 while also competing for our school’s first state championship in any sport. I truly believe that if we all work together through the same vision we can achieve these goals.
Fans and Alumni: Please continue to use great sportsmanship while encouraging our student athletes to do their very best in the classroom and on the court or field. Get involved in our Pirate Pride Booster organization which will benefit our programs.
Being a student athlete at CHS is just like being a coach, a teacher, or athletic director-it’s an honor and a privilege, it’s not a right. Understand that everything we do we want to do with class, dignity, and integrity. Our goal is to use the lessons we learn from competing on a team into life lessons. Teamwork, dedication, desire, discipline, courage, and sacrifice will not only develop great teams, it will also develop great people. We want previous athletes and teams to be proud of us. We also want future athletes and team to grow up striving to be better than us. This is the Pirate Way!
The athletic department is grateful to our parents, sponsors, Pirate Pride Booster Club, and fans that provide unrelenting support, energy, and enthusiasm for our student athletes and coaches. I wish to thank all of our sponsors for all they do and provide for our athletic teams.
In conclusion, I would like to thank everyone for their support of all activities and programs here at Charlestown High School. I will work extremely hard to continue to add to our fine school and community. As a graduate and community member, my family and I look forward to leading us to great heights in the near future. I personally appreciate all of your support and patience as we work through challenges that occur throughout each season and the entire school year.
Chad Gilbert
