Willinger Continuing College Ball at WKU
Former Charlestown Pirate Baseball player Tyler Willinger will continue his baseball career at Western Kentucky University this fall as a preferred walk on with the Hilltoppers.
Tyler just finished his sophomore season at Calhoun Community College in Decatur, Alabama. Calhoun finished the season 15-25, but Tyler posted great numbers this year. In 35 games played, he batted .340 with a .432 on base percentage. He also had 5 doubles, 18 walks and only struck out 9 times in 128 plate appearances. As in high school, Tyler continued to shine defensively with 63 putouts, 3 assists and no errors on the season.
“I am very proud of Tyler and wish him all the best as he continues his next chapter in life at WKU. I’m sure he will be very successful”, commented Pirate Head Coach Ricky Romans.
