Pirate tennis hosted the Scottsburg Warriors last night in a Mid Southern Conference matchup that saw several ups and downs and tiebreakers, but in the end the Pirates prevailed 4-1, improving to 3-1 on the season (1-1 MSC).

At the singles positions, #1 Michael Gillooly defeated Cole Atha 6-3, 6-2; #2 Alex Wright defeated Ryan Gibson 2-6, 6-4, 7-6; and #3 Dawson Boyd beat David Gaffney 7-5, 6-2.

At the doubles positions, #1 Brandon Broady and Jackson Snelling lost to Joe Neace and Jace Watson 3-6, 6-2, 3-6; #2 Clayton Rothbauer and Eric Wigginton defeated Eli Carr and Blake Drury 7-6 (7-3), 7-6 (7-3).

Seniors Rothbauer and Wigginton said, “Tennis is serious business this year.  We are going to keep working and use every day to get better.  Our goal is to win the sectional and we think we can.”
