Pirate Soccer Drops Close Match to Henryville
The Charlestown Pirate Soccer team continued their 2015 campaign with a match at home against the Henryville Hornets. The Hornets, led by Head Coach John Harris, started slow against the Pirates. The Pirates put together several good minutes during the first half to take the lead at half. The Pirates, led by senior Trent Wight, showed much improvement during the match and led soon took a 4-2 lead over the Hornets. The Hornets would put together a late surge in the second half to defeat Charlestown 6-5 at Dutch Reis Field. “Senior Trent Wight scores 5 goals in a hard fought loss. Much improvement from first match,” commented Head Coach Brian Wight. The Pirates (0-2 overall; 0-0 MSC) will begin conference play today, on the road against the Corydon Central Panthers. They will begin at 6:00pm.
