Recently Charlestown baseball senior Brandon Broady was joined by family, coaches, and teammates as he signed his celebratory letter of intent to attend school and play baseball at Jackson College next year.

Jackson College owns more than 500 acres and sits on a scenic rural site six miles south of the city of Jackson, Michigan approximately 40 miles west of Ann Arbor and 35 miles south of Lansing. Jackson College offers quality, transformational educational opportunities to prepare students for today’s career fields or transfer to a university. The College is committed to student success, with expert faculty, academic support and student services.

Jackson College is a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA), Region XII, which includes the Michigan Community College Athletic Association (MCCAA) and the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC).

The Jets compete in the Western Conference of the MCCAA against community colleges such as the Lansing Community College Stars, the Grand Rapids Community College Raiders and the Kellogg Community College Bruins in the following varsity sports:

  • Baseball
  • Men’s & Women’s Basketball
  • Men’s & Women’s Bowling
  • Men’s & Women’s Cross Country
  • Men’s Golf
  • Men’s & Women’s Soccer
  • Softball
  • Volleyball

When asked about his choice to play at Jackson College with the Jets, Broady replied, “I chose Jackson because it felt like the place I could grow as a person and an athlete. The coaches and players I met there made me feel like I was already part of the family up there. And having teammates from travel ball commit after I did made me more confident in my decision.” Broady is undecided on his field of study at Jackson College at this moment.

Charlestown baseball head coach Brian Hester, who coached Broady the first half of last season before an unfortunate injury ended Broady’s junior season had this to say: “Brandon Broady is a coaches dream.  Brandon has demonstrated what it takes to be a team leader.  He is always on task and willing to work hard in whatever we do.  He is also a positive role model and motivator to the underclass.  He suffered a season ending injury last year but that never stopped from reaching his dreams.  Brandon wanted to play college baseball and he never stopped working towards his goal.  I would take a whole team of players like Brandon.  I can’t wait to see his performance during his senior season at Charlestown and also at Jackson College. Jackson has signed a player that will help their program in many ways.  He drive and work ethic ensure that he will do great things.”
