Lady Pirates Sweep Mustangs on the Road
Charlestown Lady Pirate Volleyball improved to 3-2 on the young season after dispatching the Mustangs 3-0 Tuesday evening in New Washington. Charlestown won 25-17, 25-17, 25-21 in what were largely contested sets throughout the match. “Playing New Washington is always a good game because of the rivalry between schools. We did a good job tonight of getting an early lead and keeping it despite point surges by New Washington. We had a pretty good serving game which kept New Washington from running a faster offense. I like how we stayed focused and were able to win in three” summarized lady Pirate Head Coach Tammy Nuxoll. Senior Kaia Reid started the first set with strong hittin, finishing the first set with five kills before ending the match with eleven total kills. Senior Maddie Nuxoll helped the offense with twenty assists; while Senior Chrissa Ledbetter led the defense with 12 digs. Nuxoll also contributed ten digs on defense.
The Lady Pirate Junior Varsity squad improved their season record to 2-0 by handily defeating the Mustang JV team 2-0 (25-10 & 25-8).
Charlestown will host Henryville Wednesday in the CHS Sports Arena beginning at 6:00 pm
