Lady Pirates Snap Eastern Streak, 49-36

LexiLogsdonBBThe Charlestown Lady Pirates hosted the Eastern Lady Musketeers Tuesday evening in a critical MSC game in the CHS Sports Arena.  Eastern was riding an eight game winning streak entering the game.  The Lady Pirates struggled offensively the majority of the game; but defensively made it happen with a 49-36 win to improve their record to 14-2 (5-1 MSC).  After building a 30-21 halftime advantage, Charlestown came into the second half stepping up the defensive pressure, turning 18 visitor turnovers into high percentage offense.  Eastern’s (11-5 & 4-2 MSC) floor general found herself in foul trouble, about the same time in the fourth Justice Burdin did; however the Lady Pirates used a ten point lead to milk some time.  Shelby Goedeker drained a three pointer with just under two minutes remaining to seal the victory.  The Lady Pirates were led in scoring by Kaitlynn Henning’s 14 points and Justice Burdin’s ten.  Lexi Logsdon finished with 9 points, however consistently put herself in situations to help her team; earning her the Coyle Chevy, Buick, GMC, and Coyle Nissan Player of the Game.  Shelby Goedeker also finished with nine points while also battling foul trouble.  Charlestown is back on the road Friday at Providence for a non-conference showdown with the Lady Pioneers.
