Courtland Black Signs to Play Basketball at Spalding University

On Monday evening, Courtland Black gathered with family, friends, and teammates to sign his national letter of intent to play basketball at Spalding University during the 2019-20 season.

Spalding University is located in downtown Louisville, Kentucky. SU offers 15 majors and is the home for students who want to earn a degree while engaging and serving the community.

Spalding University athletic department sponsors 14 (6 men /8 women) varsity sports, competing at the NCAA Division III level. Known as the Golden Eagles, Spalding University is a member of the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, a conference comprised of institutions in Illinois, Iowa, Kentucky, and Missouri.

When asked about his opportunity to play at the next level with the Golden Eagles, Courtland said, “Signing with Spalding is a blessing. I’ve put in so much hard work to be where I am today and it has been a long time dream of mine to sign to a college and play college basketball. When I went on my first Visit with Coach Gray, I fell in love with the campus and the sports facilities. Lastly I want to thank my parents and my trainer, Bryant Northern, for getting me to the point I am today.”
