Boys Soccer Open MSC Play with Tie
The Charlestown Pirate Soccer team (1-1-1 overall; 0-0-1 MSC) opened up conference play on Tuesday night hosting the Corydon Central Panthers. The game started quickly, with two goals in the first half, but slowed down as the second half produced no scoring. In the first half, Sergio Bolanos was able to get past the Corydon Central defense to score the lone Pirate goal, and the defense of the Pirates held up to limit the Panther scoring at 1. The team battled hard, and controlled midfield well during the conference opener, and played well after coming off an impressive win on Monday night. The Pirate Head Coach Brian Wight commented that he was “very proud of the boys and movement good once again. We will need to refuel once again and get ready for another battle tomorrow night against Southern on the road.” As stated above, the Pirate Soccer team (1-1-1 overall) will step out of MSC play to travel across the Ohio River into Kentucky to face off with Southern High School. The match is scheduled to begin at 6:00pm. Starting next week, Pirate Soccer home matches will be moved back over to Charlestown High School.
