Pirates Top Generals, Face Creek in Title Game
The Charlestown Pirate Basketball team opened Silver Creek Holiday Tourney play Monday evening with a 65-47 drumming of Clarksville. The win moved the Pirates to 4-3 on the season and the right to face #7 and host Creek Tuesday evening in the tourney Championship game. Silver Creek dispatched Providence Monday evening in game one, 55-32, pitting the last four winners of the Holiday Tourney (Providence and Clarksville) against each other in Tuesday’s 6:00 pm Consolation Game. The Pirates jumped out to a 17-9 first quarter lead before posting a 28-17 score at the break. Charlestown was led by Jamal Long’s 12, and eight points scored respectively by Lex Smith and Gage Martin. Charlestown and Silver Creek tip in the Holiday Tourney final, Tuesday night at approximately 7:30 pm. The two schools have not met in the final since 2009, which is also the last time the host Dragons won the tourney.
