Lady Pirates Thump Their Creek Rivals, 90-60

The Charlestown Lady Pirate Basketball team improved to 2-1 and 1-1 in the Mid-Southern Conference by making quick work of defeating the visiting Dragons of Silver Creek (1-4).  Charlestown jumped out to a quick 22-12 lead then extended it to a 46-35 halftime lead enroute to a 90-60 final.  Charlestown was led in scoring by Sophomore Samantha Matthews, who finished with 25, including five of the team’s nine three point goals.  Junior Bri Harvey added 19, Freshman Jacqueline Biscardi added 18, and Freshman Peyton Crace 15.  “We try to space things out and try to get good looks at the goal”, commented first year Lady Pirate Head Coach Scott Matthews.  The Lady Pirates did a great job of driving past their match ups.  Charlestown travels to Corydon to continue Mid-Southern Conference play this Friday.
