Lady Pirate Volleyball Tops Shawe on the Road
Charlestown Lady Pirate Volleyball improved to 6-4 on the season after defeating Madison Shawe 3-1 on the road Wednesday (25-13, 25-16, 20-25, & 25-15). “A win is a win, but we did not execute as well as I would have liked tonight. Even in the first set that we won 25-13 we just weren’t as sharp as usual, and we didn’t communicate very well. In the second set we just traded points with Shawe until Kaia Reid went on a nine point serving run. The third set we started down 0-5 and couldn’t overcome the gap. The fourth set was better and we were able to win 25-15 to finish the match. We were able to play the entire roster tonight and everyone was able to contribute”, summarized Lady Pirate Head Coach Tammy Nuxoll. The Charlestown offense was led tonight by Kiersten James, who finished the game with 11 kills while Maddie Nuxoll contributed 27 assists. Chrissa Ledbetter and Maddie Nuxoll each had 11 digs to lead the defensive effort. “We will have to have better focus in our conference match against North Harrison tomorrow night”, concluded Coach Nuxoll. The Lady Pirate Junior Varsity squad improved their record to 4-4 while sweeping Shawe 2-0 (25-14, 25-10). Charlestown at North Harrison Thursday night will be broadcasted lived by Pirate Pride Sports Broadcasting beginning at approxiately 7:00 pm at www.CPPSB.com.
