Lady Pirate Volleyball Battles, but Falls to #10 Creek

Charlestown Lady Pirate Volleyball (5-4 & 2-2 MSC) hosted Class 3A #10 Silver Creek Thursday evening in the CHS Sports Arena.  Creek (13-2 & 4-0 MSC) coming off a solid win over #4 Madison and the Lady Pirates off a solid outing at Southwestern.  Charlestown hung tough with the Dragons in the first and third set, but fell respectfully (19-25, 10-25, 16-25) 0-3 to the visitors.  “Silver Creek has a good program and they are always a tough opponent to play.  Although we lost, I was still encouraged with the way my team played especially in the 1st and 3rd sets.  Before we played in the match tonight we set some smaller goals for our team in the areas of serve receive, kills and blocks.  We were close to meeting our goals and I was glad that my girls did not play intimidated or get frustrated even when we struggled in the 2nd set.  We will work on taking the positives from tonight and applying them to our matches next week”, summarized Lady Pirate Head Coach Tammy Nuxoll.  The Lady Pirates were led on offense Senior Kaia Reid’s six kills; and the Defense by Coyle Chevy, GMC, Buick & Coyle Nissan Player of the Game Senior Chrissa Ledbetter, who finished the match with 12 digs.  The Charlestown Junior Varsity also fell to Creek (0-2) 19-25, 10-25; moving their record to 3-4 and 1-1 in MSC.  Lady Pirate Volleyball is next in action next Wednesday at Madison Shawe and Thursday at North Harrison; which will be broadcasted live by CPPSB.
