Chester Signs to Play Football for Manchester Spartans
Charlestown Pirate Football Senior Quarterback Tristan Chester gathered with school officials and his family Wednesday to formally sign to play football for the Manchester University Spartans. Manchester University is located in north central Indiana; whose football program plays in the Heartland Athletic Conference of NCAA III competition. Tristan (seated center) is joined by his parents Doug and Heather Chester, as well as sisters Heidi (left) and Alex (right). Supporting Tristan and standing are Charlestown High School Athletic Director Chad Gilbert (left) and Head Pirate Football Coach Darin Ward (right). When asked what attracted him to Manchester University; Chester stated that during a recent visit to the campus he “felt it was just the right size for him”; and that he is “comfortable with the style of football” the Spartans have been playing. Chester stated that he also hopes to learn the program behind Manchester’s All-Conference and Top 25 in the nation quarterback; and then possibly take the reigns as a Sophomore. During his Senior year, Tristan helped lead the Pirates to a 10-3 season record and a Sectional Championship; while completing 106 of 195 passes, totaling 1,458 yards and 15 touchdowns. Pirate Head Coach Darin Ward, when asked about Chester’s opportunity commented: “I think its a good fit for both (Tristan and Manchester University); and Tristan has a very good football IQ that will benefit him at the college level. Another big thing, is that Tristan got it done academically, which helped make this opportunity possible.” Congratulations to Tristan Chester, and best of luck representing Charlestown on the division three grid iron!
