Volleyball Falls to Corydon in Season Opener

The Charlestown Lady Pirate Volleyball team dropped their season opener Tuesday night to Corydon Central (1-1 overall; 1-0 MSC). Corydon Central defeated Charlestown 24-26, 19-25, and 22-25. The Lady Pirates battled throughout the entire match, and showed much improvement throughout. “I am disappointed with our loss tonight. We had Corydon down 19-24 in the first set and couldn’t finish. We allowed them to serve eight points and couldn’t put a ball away. We cannot let that happen. We have to continue to earn points and not rely on other teams to make mistakes. When we got down, we tended to play a little tentative instead of being aggressive. Emalee Craven led the team with six kills and four aces. We will come back and work hard tomorrow to prepare for Jeff on Thursday,” commented Head Coach Tammy Nuxoll following the loss. The Lady Pirates match vs. Corydon Central was the first ever volleyball match broadcasted on Charlestown Pirate Pride Sports Broadcasting, and can be found on the archived broadcasts on www.cppsb.com. The Lady Pirates (0-1 overall; 0-1 MSC) will be back in action on Thursday night, hosting Jeffersonville (0-0 overall; 0-0 Hoosier Hills), with JV beginning at 6:00pm.
