Nipper Signs with Midway University

Charlestown senior Maddie Nipper was recently joined by family, coaches, teammates, and friends to sign her celebratory letter of intent to attend school and play basketball at Midway University in the fall.

Midway University is a private Christian university in Midway, Kentucky just minutes from the Lexington area along I-64. It enrolls approximately 1,900 students earning two-year and four-year degrees as well as master’s degrees. It is home to twenty-eight teams for men, women, and co-ed sports and it competes in the River States Conference in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics  (NAIA).

When asked about her choice to attend school and play basketball at Midway University with the Eagles, Nipper replied, “As I visited many great schools and met some wonderful coaches and players, Midway just felt like the right fit all around for me. The campus is beautiful and exactly what I was looking for. I also instantly felt a connection with Coach Gorby and the team. The energy and positivity of the team really attracted me to commit to Midway!” Nipper plans to major in business and minor in computer science.

Charlestown Lady Pirates basketball coach Scott Matthews had this to say: “On behalf of the Lady Pirate basketball team, I want to congratulate Maddie on her signing to Midway University. I look forward to following her basketball journey as she wraps up her high school career here at Charlestown this season and then after high school at the collegiate level. Go Eagles!”
