Sherrill & Lady Pirates Knock Out Panthers

LeahSherrillThe Charlestown Lady Pirates traveled to Corydon Tuesday evening, recognized the importance of the conference match-up and wasted no time knocking the Lady Panthers out of the game.  Charlestown jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead after two complete, then poured it on in the third and fourth, scoring five runs spoil the host’s night.  The Lady Pirates (10-4 & 4-2 MSC) added two more runs in the top of the 7th inning before Corydon squeezed one run in the bottom of the stanza to avoid the shut-out.  Charlestown collected the win with a 8-1 advantage.  Junior Pitcher Carly Price got the win from the circle; striking out five Panther batters.  Leah Sherrill had another big game for the Lady Pirates, finishing 3 for 4 from the plate; including a double, a triple, and two RBI’s with two runs.  Sherrill was named the Coyle Chevy, GMC, Buick and Coyle Nissan Player of the Game by CPPSB.  Mackenzie Smith finished 3 for 4 at the plate and scored 2 runs; while Carly Price finished 3 for 4 with 2 runs’.  Lexi Logsdon added a triple, two RBI’s, and a run.  Bethany Hall finished 2 for 4 at the plate, including a triple, and a RBI.  “I thought we executed what we needed to accomplish well, and continued to improve at the plate”, commented Lady Pirate Head Coach Kevin Zollman.  The JV game also found the Lady Pirates hot, beating their Corydon counter parts 19-5 in five innings.  Charlestown will host New Washington Wednesday evening at five, and will travel to Brownstown Thursday for a huge MSC showdown.
