Pirate Softball Slips Past Warriorettes

Charlestown Lady Pirate Softball hosted the Warriorettes of Scottsburg in an important Mid-Southern Conference match-up.  Charlestown (5-2 & 2-0 MSC) jumped out to a 8-2 lead in a error plagued battle; before a Scottsburg five run rally came up short in the top of the seventh.  The Lady Pirates’ Carly Price got the win from the circle, allowing seven hits, four runs and retiring six batters.  Charlestown scored eight runs off thirteen hits while Scottsburg scored seven off seven hits.  Both Carly Price and Sarah Willinger both recorded timely triples to help the Lady Pirates survive.  Leah Sherrill finished 3-4 at the plate with two RBI’s, while Mackenzie Smith and Bethany Hall both finished 2-4 at bat.  Charlestown will next host New Albany Monday at 5:00 pm.
