Pirate Sluggers Top Mustangs, Romans Hits 200

Pirate Baseball won their seventh consecutive game and improved to 18-5 on the season by dispatching New Washington 19-2 in non-conference play Thursday evening.  Additionally, Head Coach Ricky Romans tallied high school coaching career win number 200 in the process.  The Pirates scored four runs in the first and twelve runs in the second to over-power the visiting Mustangs (9-9); finishing with 15 hits and one error.  Colin Martin (2-2) got the win from the mound for the Pirates; while Brandon Love finished 3-4 from the plate, including a double, three RBI’s and three runs scored.  David Rodriguez finished 4-4 at the plate, including three doubles, a home run, four RBI’s and three runs scored.  “Brandon and David played extremely well tonight and took advantage of their opportunities, which is great to see.  They were ready to play and ready to step up when their number was called”, commented Head Coach Ricky Romans after the win.  The Pirates will now travel to Oxford Indiana on Saturday to compete in the annual Benton Central High School Bison Invitational.  Follow Charlestown Pirate Pride Sports Broadcasting on Twitter for updates and the PiratePride.BLUE website for results.
