Memorable Marching Season for the Band of Pirates

BandatLOS2014The Charlestown HS Band of Pirates ended their regular marching season Saturday with a phenomenal performance at Lawrence Central High School (Indianapolis).

The band did not get first place, so it does not get to perform at the showcase (only one band got that award); but the band did get a nice big trophy!  The Band continues to stay busy, including their upcoming Spaghetti Dinner and Auction on Saturday, November 15th, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Charlestown Arts and Enrichment Center (999 Water Street).

Highlights of the marching season:
-Performed at Lucas Oil Stadium for the Lucas Oil Stadium Showcase where the Charlestown High School football team played Brownstown.

-First Place at the Salem, Indiana Marching Band Competition (also earning Best Music, Best Color Guard, and Best Visual Effect)

-Second Place at the Paoli Marching Band Competition (also earning Best Marching and Best Percussion)

-Second Place at the Floyd Central Marching Band Competition (also earning Best Auxiliary for Color Guard)

-Gold Rating at the Indiana State School Music Association (ISSMA) Scholastic Preliminary (the band advances to the ISSMA Scholastic Finals on October 25th in Indianapolis, Indiana).

The band has 47 members, including students from New Washington High School for the first time ever.  This year was a great year for our band program, with a bright future on the horizon for our Marching Band of Pirates.  The band will now officially be in “pep-band” mode through the end of the football season.  Congratulations to the Band of Pirates for an outstanding marching season, Pirate Nation is proud of you!  For more on the Charlestown HS Band of Pirates, go to www.charlestownbandofpirates.com.
