Lady Pirates Get BIG MSC Road Victory at Austin

The Charlestown Lady Pirate Basketball team improved to 5-0 and 2-0 in the Mid-Southern Conference with an important road victory at Austin (3-2 & 1-1 MSC) Wednesday evening.  The Lady Pirates led 18-10 after one period, and 24-20 at the half before expanding their lead to 42-34 after three complete.  Charlestown endured a late game Lady Eagle spurt to win 53-48, and begin the season 5-0 for the first time in over 14 years.  The Lady Pirates had not beaten Austin in girls basketball since a one point overtime win in November 2006.

Kaitlynn Henning lead the Lady Pirates with 13 points, Lexi Logsdon finished with 10, while Shelby Goedeker and Bethany Hall both finished with nine points each.  “This was a solid win for the girls, and hats off to Lexi Logsdon, who’s defense on the Lady Eagle leading scorer kept us in position to win” commented Head Coach Michael Prichard.

The Lady Pirates stay on the road in conference play on Saturday, when they visit Scottsburg (1-4) for a 6pm JV tip and Varsity tip immediately following.
