Lady Pirates Drop Non-Conference Match at Madison

The more the Lady Pirate Volleyball (4-3) competed against the home standing Lady Cubs (5-0) of Madison, the more they successful figured out their offense.  Unfortunately, Varsity Volleyball is the best of the first five sets, so Madison ended up defeating Charlestown 0-3.  The Lady Pirates surged during each of the three sets, leading several times but came up short 17-25, 19-25, and 23-25.  “Madison has a good program with several good hitters and blockers.  We could not get an offense going against them.  We have to get better at mixing up our shots if something isn’t working.  We did have pockets of plays where we played really good defense to keep ourselves in the sets.  I thought we played hard and gave good effort, we just have to stay focused and consistent throughout the match”, commented Charlestown Head Coach Tammy Nuxoll.

Senior Kaia Reid led the Lady Pirates in kills with five, while Sophomore Hannah Thibideau added four on the night.  The defense was led by Senior Chrissa Ledbetter, who finished the match with 17 digs.  “We have had a long week with three matches in a row.  We will get some rest and come back ready to play Southwestern on Tuesday”, concluded Coach Nuxoll.

The Charlestown Junior Varsity squad fell to a record of 3-2 after also falling to the Madison JV team 0-2 (12-25, & 7-25).
