JV Volleyball Wins Third, Varsity Falls to Rock Creek

Charlestown at Rock Creek

CHS JV won 24-25, 25-23, 15-8 & CHS Varsity lost 11-25, 18-25, 7-25

Coach Nuxoll:  Danielle Miles showed good leadership on the court for us tonight. Despite rough patches, she encouraged her team to stay in the game. Danielle and Emalee Craven led our offensive efforts. We struggled in each set with our passing, and we had difficulty with some basic plays. We were not low on defense nor did we move our feet to get to balls. We continue to be on a rollercoaster of emotions, trying to decide when we will play as a team despite all odds or when we will play as individuals and not communicate. Rock Creek has some good hitters and played good defense against us, but I do think that if we would stick together as a team like we have in other matches, we would have been more competitive against them. Haley Vincent had some good passes for us tonight and Shelby Goedeker hustled on defense. We will have to refocus as we head to Borden tomorrow.

Our JV won a hard fought match. The first set went back and forth, and we actually had a three point lead at the end and Rock Creek edged out the win 25-24. Kiersten James and Allana Brock had consistent serving in the first set to help us stay in the game. I was encouraged to see the girls come out and play hard in the second set despite losing the first one. Again, consistent serving from Alanna Brock, Bri Harvey and Maddie Nuxoll helped us win another close set 25-23. In the third set we seemed more focused and started to pick up balls that Rock Creek was sending over on the second contact. Consistent serving from Kiersten James and Sidney Goedeker allowed us to gain a lead in the third set and keep it. Chrissa Ledbetter did a nice job for us on defense and Bri Harvey, Kiersten James and Hannah Vincent helped on offense.
