Charlestown XC Invite Returns Successfully

XCInvitePicThe Charlestown High School Cross Country Invitational made a return for 2017 Saturday at Charlestown State Park; a truly great invitational venue for cross country running.  The Lady Pirate team finished second as a team (5-7 runners per team) and out of 30 total runners placed according:  4th Carley Conway (22:12.31); 7th Ashley Wight (23:06.48); 9th Katie Rhodes (23:32.83); 12th Alexis Gurr (24:04.74); 13th Skylar Cochran (24:16.25); 14th Claire Mitchell (24:35.57); 21st Kelsey Lakes (26:15.80);  and 24th Sam Matthews (27:30.21).  Corydon Central finished first with 25, Charlestown finished with a second place 38, ahead of Jeffersonville’s third place 61.  “The girls ran a great race this morning!  We now know what we need to learn/improve running against Corydon if we want to win a conference title!  Seniors we will miss you next year!”, commented Charlestown Head Coach Jerry Doyle.

The Pirate boys team finished the Invitational 5th as a team, finishing as follows out of 44 total male runners:  14th Josh McCoy (19:09.92); 29th Drashaun Morrow (21:03.07); 30th Harrison Adams (21:14.84); 31st Camden Latham (21:20.19); 34th Alex Settles (22:19.74); and 35th Ty Crace (22:22.16).  Floyd Central tooks the boys division first place scoring a 28, Jeffersonville second (64), Corydon third (64), Providence fourth (85), Charlestown scored 133 in fifth place ahead of Lanesville’s 166.  “Congrats to the Pirate XC team for running well! We are a young team and we are looking forward to improving!”, commented Coach Doyle.
