Boys Basketball Parent Meeting Announced

The Charlestown Pirate Basketball program will hold a parent meeting Wednesday May 3rd, beginning at 6 pm in CHS Sports Arena.  Parents of boys entering grades 9-12 that are interested in playing basketball next school year are encouraged to attend to discuss spring activities, fundraising, parent expenses, and summer basketball program.

Pirate Basketball Announces Elementary Skills Academy

Charlestown Pirate Basketball Head Coach Jason Connell has announced plans to host an elementary Boys Basketball Skills Academy in the CHS Sports Arena beginning Monday, May 8th  and running through Thursday, May 11th from 3:45-5:00 pm.  The academy will be designed for boys of current grades 1st through 5th, at a cost of $30 per participant, including a t-shirt.  The skills academy will focus on the offensive and defensive fundamentals of the game.  The skills academy is something the staff and our players look forward to every year.

JJ Students-There will be a bus that will bring the kids over to the high school.

PR Students-One of our high school coaches will be at the school at the end of the day to bring the students over to the high school.

Knoebel to Work Out and Play in All-Star Game

Congratulations to Pirate Basketball Senior Jordon Knoebel; who has been invited to and excepted placement into the Hoosier Basketball magazines’ top 60 seniors work out. The Top 60 Work Out will be held on April 2nd at Beech Grove High School; before traveling down to Bloomington at approximately 1:00 pm to represent Charlestown in the Hoosier Basketball Coaches Association’s All-Star game. The All-Star game will begin at 5:00 pm at Bloomington North High School; again congratulations and best of luck on April 2nd.

Pirate Basketball Announces Recent Accolades

Four Pirate Basketball standouts have been recently recognized in Southern Indiana for outstanding accomplishments this past season, both on the court and in the classroom.

Senior Jordon Knoebel, after averaging 22 points per game this past season, has been voted to the MSC All conference Team; and will also be playing in April 2nd annual HBCA All-Star game held at Bloomington North High School.

Senior Miles Matthews was selected statewide to Indiana’s Academic All State Team; while Trey Woodward received Academic All State Honorable Mention honors.

Congratulations also goes out to Isaiah Harris for being recognized All MSC Honorable Mention and to Trey Woodward for Indiana Academic All State Honorable Mention honors.

Outstanding work Pirates, that’s representing Pirate Nation with class!

Boys Basketball Sectional Schedule Change Announced

Salem High School, host of Boys Basketball Sectional #30, has announced a rescheduling of sectional games due to power utility problems resulting from the recent storms.  The following is the revised game schedule for Sectional #30 at Salem High School:

Thursday, March 2nd – 6:00 pm, Salem vs. Scottsburg (Gm 2); then at approximately 7:30 pm, Silver Creek vs. Corydon (Gm 3).

Friday, March 3rd – NO GAMES.

Saturday, March 4th – Semi-Finals, 6:00 pm, Charlestown vs. Brownstown; then at approximately 7:30 pm, the Winner of Gm 2 vs. Winner of Gm 3.

Monday, March 6th – Sectional Championship Game, tipping off at 7:00 pm.

Boys Basketball Senior Night TONIGHT

The Charlestown HS Boys Basketball team will celebrate Senior Night festivities tonight while concluding the regular season and hosting the Christian Academy Warriors.  The Junior Varsity game will tip at 6:00 pm while the Varsity game will tip at approximately 7:30 pm.

Congratulations to Seniors Trey Crace, Jordon Knoebel, Brendan Lawler, Miles Matthews, Trey Schafer, and Trey Woodward.

Additionally during tonight’s game, look for the CHS National Honor Society selling baked goods as a fund raiser for medical expenses of Senior Katlin Pedro, a NHS member who was hit by a car and critically injured last November.

Boys Basketball Sectional Tickets On Sale

The Charlestown High School Athletic Department will be selling $10.00 all session Boys Basketball Sectional tickets, Monday February 27th through Thursday March 2nd, from 8:30 am to 12:00 pm in the CHS Athletic office.

The Pirates play Friday night, March 3rd, at 6:00 pm vs. the winner of Brownstown and North Harrison; at Salem High School.
