Pirate Tennis Takes Down Borden
The Charlestown Pirate Tennis team, continuing to improve in the second season under Coach Matthews, took down Borden on Tuesday night in a match played at Borden. Miles Matthews fell at one singles, 4-6, 4-6, but the Pirates took the matches at two singles and three singles, as Tyler Massie (two singles) won 3-6, 6-2, 7-6 (11-9) and Trey Woodward (three singles) won 6-1, 6-2. The Pirates took both doubles matches by default. The Pirates won four matches to one, and advance to 4-2 on the season. “Even though Borden only has three players, they are a tough out. Singles played very well. Great job tonight,” commented Scott Matthews. The Pirates (4-2 overall; 0-2 MSC) will be back in action against conference foe Austin next Tuesday at our courts starting at 5:00pm.
