Pirate Soccer Falls to Southern
The Charlestown Pirate Soccer team (1-2-1 overall; 0-0-1 MSC) traveled across the bridge into Kentucky on Wednesday night to face off with Southern High School in Louisville. The Pirates played well in the first half, but ran out of gas in the second half and were defeated 6-2 by Southern High School. It was a tale of two halves, says Coach Wight. The Pirates were tied 2-2, but gave up four goals in the second half and were unable to recover. “Very proud of the boys, they left it all on the field. With this being our third straight game, our legs gave out in the second half. We our looking forward to these two days off. We will be back to work next week and get ready for Madison on Tuesday,” commented Head Coach Brian Wight following the match. The Pirates (1-2-1 overall) will be back in action on Tuesday night, as they host Madison. All CHS home soccer matches are now being held at Charlestown High School starting Monday.
