Support the Band of Pirates, Order a Sponsor T-Shirt

The Marching Band of Pirates is currently selling our annual marching band t-shirts!

This year we have had a lot of support with our t-shirt sponsorship program, with several new t-shirt sponsors and even new band trailer sponsors. All of the new support is already helping this year to be a great success and we are definitely ready for our first competition!

The T-Shirts are only $10.00, and all funds raised through our t-shirt sales go directly toward our band program to help with costs such as transportation, food, uniforms, instrument repairs, music, and drill. The front of the t-shirt features our 2017 show theme, “Carmen,” and the back features all of our community sponsors. The t-shirts are a great way to show your support for the Charlestown middle and high school Band of Pirates!

If you would like us to reserve one for you in the band room, please email Ms. Talley at jtalley@gccschools.com or Susan Knoebel at sknoebel@gccschools.com.  We have lots of sizes available.

Creek Defeats Pirates Soccer on End of Game PK

PirateSoccer2Charlestown HS Pirate Soccer moved to a record of 2-4-1 and 0-2-1 in MSC play Tuesday evening when falling to MSC rival Silver Creek 3-2 on Dutch Reis Field.  “Today, the Pirates played a hard game against Silver Creek.  We started out by not doing the right work in the field and it cost us 2 goals in the first half.  Our goalie, Matt, did an amazing job (as usual) under the goal.  Just like all games, I had a discussion with my boys at halftime.  The second half was a true turn-around”, commented Pirate coach Christian Martinez.  The Pirates executed some good plays in the second half, which led to score two goals; one by Sergio Bolanos at the 19 minute mark with an assist from Andrew Mattingly, and another by Bryce Wray at the 22 minute mark with an assist from Pascual Gonzalez.  With the score tied at two, and near the end of the game, the referee called a “hand ball” that resulted in what developed as the winning penalty kick for Silver Creek.  “I disagree with the call 100%,  but it was his call”, added Coach Martinez.  “I love the effort I saw in the second half of the game and I hope they continue to play this hard”, concluded Coach Martinez.

Matt Parrella finished the game with 8 saves and 3 allowed.  The Pirates took 15 shots, with 12 on goal; Silver Creek took 20 shots, with 11 on goal.  The Pirates travel to Salem in another MSC clash Thursday.
