Lady Pirates Give Devils All They Could Handle

The Lady Pirate Volleyball team (1-1) dropped their first match of the  season to 4A Jeffersonville at home; but gave the Red Devils all they could handle.  After continual lead changes and tied scores, Jeffersonville managed to squeeze out the victory 3-0 (22-25, 22-25, & 24-26).  The Charlestown offense was led by Emalee Craven and Kaia Reid who each had eight kills; while Maddie Nuxoll had 17 assists.  Kaia Reid also contributed six aces.  Chrissa Ledbetter did a nice job passing and led the defensive stats with seventeen digs.

“Tonight we lost three close matches to a good team.  I am extremely pleased with our total team effort.  This team worked well together and were able to keep their composure and come back when we were down early in a set.  One of our goals this year is to finish games when when we have a lead.  We still need to capitalize when we get a few points ahead and not let up on our intensity.  Our This group has a lot of potential, and I know they will work hard to continue to improve”, summarized Lady Pirate Head Coach Tammy Nuxoll.  The Lady Pirate JV team also picked up their first loss of the season, falling to Jeffersonville 16-25, & 24-25.

Charlestown will host MSC rivals Clarksville and Brownstown Saturday morning in a tri-meet beginning at 10am, in the CHS Sports Arena.  Charlestown’s games Saturday morning will be broadcasted live by CPPSB.
