Lady Pirate Softball Stays Perfect in MSC at Salem
Two runs was all it took Wednesday evening as the Charlestown Lady Pirate Softball team disappointed home standing Salem’s (6-2 MSC) attempt to stay in the hunt of this year’s MSC Softball Conference race. Neither team recorded an error, Charlestown (14-4 & 7-0 MSC) earned their two runs off six hits while 3A #13 Salem was held scoreless with five hits. Scoreless after five complete, the Lady Pirates scored a run each of the sixth and seventh innings when Bethany Hall singled to score Mackenzie Smith and Brooke Adams added a solo home run. Carly Price pitched the complete shut out win, striking out three and walking two. With two conference games remaining, at Eastern (1-7 MSC) Thursday, and at North Harrison (6-1 MSC) next Tuesday; Charlestown can clinch at least a share of defending their 2015 Mid-Southern Conference softball title with a win in Pekin. North Harrison’s sole conference loss to date was at the hands of Silver Creek.
