Short Handed Lady Pirate Soccer Ties Whitefield

Playing without starters Sara Rutkowski and Jordan Popp, the Lady Pirates
persevered and manage a tie against Whitefield Academy. Tayte Motsinger scored a
hat trick and an assist on the fourth goal which went to Gabi Wixon. Irene
Romero, Tapanga Larson, Cheyenne Hawk and Piper Clark stepped up and filled the
void left by the absent starters. The defense logged a lot of minutes and stayed
in the game. Motsinger, Wixon, Beverly Quinteros and Isabel Arredondo kept
pressure on the Whitefield defense. A mental error on the second half kick-off
and a controversial call in the box helped keep Whitefield in the game.

Next game: Scottsburg Tuesday at 6.

Lady Pirate Soccer Falls to Corydon 6-0

Tuesday night the Lady Pirates played another tough game with Corydon.  Starting slow, the Lady Pirates eventually got going.  The defense made some mental errors early allowing Corydon to get an early lead.  By halftime the score was 6-0.  The second half saw a spark of life from the Lady Pirate offense and defense but they were not able to find the back of the net, but neither did Corydon.  Gabi Wixon and Sarah Rutkowski worked well with the through ball on one side, allowing four good shots while Tayte Motsinger did her job on the other side of the field, making crosses. “Eventually those through balls and crosses will generate goals. They didn’t tonight, but eventually they will, commented Coach Kimmell.”

Next game: Jeffersonville Thursday at 6.

Girls Soccer Falls to Jennings Co

The Lady Pirate Soccer team lost a tough game to Jennings County Thursday evening. Jennings County played solid, fast soccer.  The Lady Pirates didn’t back down but also took some time to adjust to the fast, physical play of the Jennings County offensive attack.  Justice Burdin played spectactular in the goal but the Panthers offense slipped some goals by her. The Lady Pirates were without starting senior Gabi Wixon.

Halftime score- 5-0
Final Score- 8-0
