The Pirate and Lady Pirate Cross Country team ran in the New Washington Invitational Tuesday evening.  The Lady Pirates finished second to Southwestern, led by Freshman Katie Rhodes who ran second, with a personal best time of 20:14.  Senior Whitney Andrews finished 6th and Alysha Flaget 16th, both winning medals for Charlestown.  Rounding out the Lady Pirate scoring included Gabi Gagnon in 21st place and Erin Kimbrell in 29th place; also running a personal best time.  The Pirates were led by Seth Parker, who finished in 14th place with a personal best time of 18:11, and unofficially placing him in the record book at Charlestown!  Skyler Elmore, Darian Zeise and Matt Fellows all ran very well for the Pirates!  For more information about Charlestown Pirate and Lady Pirate Cross Country, go to www.PiratePride.BLUE/Cross_Country

The Charlestown Lady Pirate Cross Country team ran in the annual Silver Creek Invitational Tuesday evening.  The Lady Pirates team finished 6th out of 19 teams, led by Katie Rhodes and Whitney Andrews; both who had medal finishes.  Rhodes finished in 12th place and Andrews in 19th place respectively.  The Lady Pirates did well, even without their 34 runner Gabi Gagnon, out nursing an injury.  “I’m very proud of our runners, the field was full of very strong with some of the top runners in the area”, commented Charlestown Head Cross Country Coach Jerry Doyle.  The Cross Country team is scheduled to participate in the annual Madison Invitational this Saturday.

The Charlestown Pirate and Lady Pirate Cross-Country teams will hold another fund raiser Yard Sale at the Charlestown High School parking lot on Saturday September 13th from 8am to 1pm.  Pirate Nation, come and support the fundraising efforts of these student-athletes!  Thanks in advance!  Go Pirate XC!!

The Charlestown Cross Country teams traveled to and participated in the annual Scottsburg Invitational Tuesday evening.  The Lady Pirates finished third overall, led by Frosh Katie Rhodes’ 8th place run, with a personal best time of 21:53.  Whitney Andrews also ran well, finishing in 18th place.  The Lady Pirates finished behind Silver Creek and Salem, only 12 points out of second.  The Scottsburg Invitational was held at Hardy Lake in Scott County.  For more information about the Charlestown HS Cross Country teams, go to www.PiratePride.blue/CrossCountry.

The Charlestown Pirate and Lady Pirate Cross Country teams competed in North Harrison’s annual Cougar Classic Thursday evening; among at least twenty other schools and over 400 runners.  The Lady Pirates finished in 6th place as a team, with three runners earning medal finishes.  Whitney Andrews finished 20th, Katie Rhodes 23rd, and Gabi Gagnon in 26th place; again against hundreds of runners.  The Charlestown Lady Pirates, as a team, were only beaten out of first place by Jasper, Bedford-North Lawerence, North Harrison and New Albany.  Head Coach Jerry Doyle stated “I couldn’t be more proud of the hard work these ladies are putting in!”
