The Boys Freshman Basketball game scheduled for Wednesday, December 2nd will be played at Henryville. The game will no longer be played at Charlestown High School, as originally scheduled and announced. The tip time is still set for 6:00 pm at Henryville. The Lady Pirate Basketball team will be playing at home on Wednesday against Austin, with JV starting at 6:00pm and Varsity to follow.
The Charlestown Boys and Girls Basketball Varsity Basketball teams will be competing tomorrow night in the CHS Athletic Department’s first annual PACK THE HOUSE NIGHT! Tomorrow night will include Varsity Girls Basketball against New Washington at 6:00pm, a special recognition to a Charlestown High School employee, CBDL basketball scrimmages, a performance from our Pirate Cheerleaders, and the Boys Varsity Basketball regular season opener also versus New Washington. The boys Varsity tip will occur between 7:30 pm and 8:00 pm. The CHS Athletic Department is attempting to break the single game arena attendance record of 2,731. Let’s get as many people in the CHS Sports Arena as possible!

Just a reminder that the Lady Pirate Basketball team will face off in a conference match-up tonight against Corydon Central with the JV tipping at 6:00 pm. Also, next Tuesday night, 11/24/15, is PACK THE HOUSE NIGHT! We need everyone in attendance Tuesday night for our Pirate & Lady Pirate Varsity Double Header against New Washington. Girls will tip at 6:00 pm and the Boys will follow! We have a lot of events and recognition planned for that night, make sure you are here so we can PACK THE HOUSE!!
The Charlestown Pirate Basketball program will host its annual Big Blue Madness will Friday, November 13th, 2015 beginning at 6 pm. Pirate Basketball will preview inter-squad scrimmages beginning with the Charlestown 7th grade team kicking the event off; followed by the 8th, 9th, Junior Varsity and Varsity squads. There will be a new addition between the JV-Varsity scrimmages, held in the CHS Sports Arena. Admission to Big Blue Maddness is an unopened bottle of Gatorade.
The Charlestown Middle School Boys Basketball Skills Academy concluded this past Saturday. The academy consistently had over 20 participants each of the three Saturdays held this past month; and the “participants came in with a great attitude and worked extremely hard”, according to Pirate Head Coach Jason Connell. A special thanks to Coach Abbott, Coach Broady, Coach Wigginton, Coach Anderson, and Coach Dietrich for their involvement with our Skills Academy program. “It takes all of us to get where we want to go. The Charlestown Youth and Family Sports program and Charlestown High School boys and girls basketball programs are holding registration for their upcoming Community Basketball Developmental League. The Charlestown Basketball Developmental League, open for any boy or girl ages 4-1, will have a registration booth set up at the football game this Friday, next to the girl’s basketball tailgating booth. We will offer the chance to register for the upcoming season from 5:30-7:00 pm. The registration deadline is October 1st, 2015. The registration form may also be downloaded and/or printed (submit it per the instructions on the form) at www.cityofcharlestown.com/2015-fall-community-developmental-league.
There will be a mandatory meeting for any parent that has a son interested in playing Charlestown HS Boys Basketball during the upcoming season, Thursday, September 17th, beginning at 7:00 pm in corner meeting room of the CHS Sports Arena.
